My questions are ...as the actual driver is already in
system32/driver, is there anyway that I can set this device to use
tblclass.sys instead of the default Microsoft Mouse driver? Or, any
advise/suggestion on how to install this device without coming up as
Microsoft Mouse?
Please don't tell me to goto the vendor (PenMaster). Their web site
don't have workable solution, and I've email them at their varies
account (including sale) but no reply at all! May be that company
don't have aftersales service. Anyone got the working technical email
address (ie. the one they will answer) for PenMaster, please post it
as well.
Ok, you say you don't want to go to the vendor but this is what you'll have
to do i'm afraid, as it sounds like the driver files you've been given are
not working properly. Have you tried using google.com to search for updated
drivers "out there" on the web?

just did a search on google and found this page on boot.ini flags

http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/info/bootini.shtml

/NOSERIALMICE=[COMx | COMx,y,z...]

Disables serial mouse detection of the specified COM port(s). Use this
switch if you have a component other than a mouse attached to a serial port
during the startup sequence. If you use /NOSERIALMICE without specifying a
COM port, serial mouse detection is disabled on all COM ports. See Microsoft
KB Article Q131976 for more information.
Post again ...anyone got an idea? I've tried everything and it's
still not working ....
I am trying to install a writing pad (pointing device) for Chinese
character input (PenMaster) on Windows 2000. I have run the setup the
setup program and there is no complain or error. The driver
tblclass.sys is also found in system32/driver.
However, when I plug in the writing pad to RS232 and reboot, it always
come up as Microsoft Serial Mouse (and it's working). If I tried to
run the Chinese inputing utility that comes with the driver, it will
report input device not found error. Seems like Microsoft always treat
this as Microsoft mouse.
I've tried to update the driver to use fatblt.inf file via device
manager but it reported that this file do not contain hardware
information.
My questions are ...as the actual driver is already in
system32/driver, is there anyway that I can set this device to use
tblclass.sys instead of the default Microsoft Mouse driver? Or, any

I've tried that option, but take no effect, further search found the
following article,

http://www.comptechdoc.org/os/windows/win2k/win2kconfigfiles.html

which states the following,
/FASTDETECT=[COMx | COMy] - This was the /NOSERIALMICE option in Windows NT. Useful if hooking up a UPS to the serial port, so Windows 2000 will not probe the port. Without com ports specified, makes the detection of a mouse on serial ports be skipped which is the default setting for Windows 2000.
and fastdetect is default for Windows 2000, and my boot.ini read the
followings,
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
So, seems like boot.ini option do not take any effect in my box at
all. Or, is there other trick to make that works?

Thanks,
Bosco.

This problem is still not yet solved, where my attached writying pad
(PenMaster) always comes up as serial mouse. I've followed the

Anyone got an idea on how to fix this?
